Blair Castle's guided tours offer a fascinating insight into the extraordinary history of this magnificent historical building, and perhaps none are more revealing than our attic tours.

Hidden from view in the attic maze of rooms and corridors are many strange, wonderful and interesting artefacts that tell the story of the castle's chequered past.

Through this intriguing guided tour you will uncover the secrets of Baron Maule’s room, look at a selection of our historic estate records and marvel at the eclectic collections of family paintings, walking sticks, weaponry and period costumes that the castle has amassed over its long history.

Although the attics are now used mainly for storage, they once served as accommodation for the Duke’s staff. They would have been a highly structured series of rooms, with space allocated according to rank and staff being subject to a highly structured routine.

Evidence of this bygone era remains to this day, and our guides will help to bring these scenes to life through their knowledge of how the castle was staffed in those days, how the staff would have lived and how the attics have changed over the years.

The guided tour culminates in a climb to the rooftops for breathtaking panoramic views of the castle grounds and surrounding estate (weather permitting).

Please note: This guided tour involves many flights of spiral stairs, the occasional tight space and heights, and is only suitable for the fully able.
