BOOKING
Please note: advance booking is essential, as the centre can be very busy during the season.
To book, please telephone Blair Castle Trekking Centre on (01796) 481568, email vicki@blaircastletrekking.co.uk. If no-one is around to take your call, please leave a message on the answering machine, and one of the ride leaders will call you back as soon as possible.
The answering machine is checked 2-3 times daily on trekking days and twice daily on Saturdays.
The team at Blair Castle Trekking Centre also liase with other approved centres in the area and throughout Scotland, and can arrange bookings for you to incorporate trekking both at Blair and at other centres, should you be touring Scotland, from Perthshire to the Islands.
BOOKING AND CANCELLATIONS
Payment details will be taken at the time of booking and payment made on the day of the trek. Full payment will be taken from your debit/credit card for cancellations made within 48 hours before the trek, or for no-shows.
For your safety, Blair Castle Trekking Centre reserves the right to cancel treks if the weather is unsuitable or dangerous (icy/frosty weather, heavy rain or strong winds). All payment will be fully refunded to you in this instance. Please ensure that we have a contact number for your – preferably a mobile – so that we can call you as soon as possible to cancel the trek.
WHAT TO WEAR
The centre provides riding hats for customers without their own. Customers with their own riding hats are advised to wear the safest standards (either PAS 015, 1994 & 1998; BSEN 1384, 1997; EN 1384, 1996; or ASTM F1163, 1998 American Safety Standard).
It is very important that suitable footwear is worn. We do not allow training shoes, basketball style boots or Wellingtons. A shoe or boot with a ½ or 1 inch heel is advised – something similar to a walking boot or desert boot style is preferable.
If it is cold or wet it is always better to wear layers of clothing, and on sunny days wear clothing to protect yourself from sunburn. A pair of riding gloves is also essential, and we can provide gloves if you don’t have your own.
WEIGHT LIMIT
We have a rider weight limit of 14 stone for beginners and 15 stone for experienced riders.
AGE LIMIT
We have a strict age limit of 12 years old and above.
ARRIVAL TIME
Beginner riders should arrive 30 minutes prior to the trekking departure time so that we can introduce you to your pony, provide basic instruction and take time to find you the right hat and gloves. Experienced riders should arrive 15-20 minutes before their hack.
GROUPS
On all treks we have a maximum group size of 8 riders. The centre welcomes group bookings for up to 8 riders, subject to availability and if booked in advance. Groups can also book a photography, nature, Craig Urrard summit or picnic trek (as included here) on other dates, provided there are a minimum of 4 riders.
For group bookings a deposit of 25% is payable on booking with final payment made on arrival. This deposit is non-refundable. If a cancellation is made within 72 hours of the group trek, the full amount will be charged.
