Pony Trekking in Scotland – Treks for All Abilities

Pony trekking is an excellent way to experience the stunning scenery of Scotland at first hand. Blair Castle is surrounded by some of Scotland’s most dramatic and picturesque landscapes and pony trekking lets you explore them at your leisure, allowing you to really connect with your surroundings.

Pony Trekking for Beginners

The Atholl Highland ponies are kind, patient and sure-footed, making them perfect mounts for everyone – from beginners to experienced riders. They are gentle and calm, and are particularly good at settling any nerves a rider may have.

Our beginner trekking routes keep to a walking pace, and are therefore particularly suited to inexperienced riders. However, they are also suitable for experienced riders who just want a relaxing ride where they can admire the scenery.

One or Two Hour Pony Trekking

A steady walk aboard a Highland pony offers a relaxing way to see the grounds of Blair Castle. One-hour pony treks are ideal for first-time riders, whilst the more adventurous may choose a two-hour pony trek and explore a little further afield.

Time: 10.00 or 14.00
Cost: One-hour £25 per person; two-hour £38 per person
Light lunch offer: £10 extra per person

Heather, Hills and Hamish Pony Treks - available March to July

A two-hour trek at a steady walking pace, this ride really does represent pony trekking in Scotland at its best. Hamish is very knowledgeable about deer stalking and heather management and will be happy to answer any questions you may have about the countryside.
